Concerto 5 from The Six Brandenburg Concertos

A Fifth Brandenburg Concertos

In 2018, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker created her largest performance to date, around Bach's Six Brandenburg Concertos. Against the complex musical architecture she creates a choreography that responds to the different instruments of the musical score, starting from a basic dance phrase that is continually transformed in relation to the space and the rhetorical dimension of the music. In this workshop, students worked on the choreography of the 5th Concerto, a quartet, led by Thomas VanTuycom, Jason Respilieux and Cynthia Loemij, all of whom danced in the original performance. Each evening you will see two different casts exploring new connections between musical and choreographic composition.
