Lise Vachon

Lise Vachon is currently living in Belgium where she is active as a dancer, teacher and creative collaborator in the field of contemporary dance. Originally from Canada, she studied dance at l’École Supérieure de Danse du Québec / Les Grands Ballets de Montréal and is a graduate of The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. In 1997 she moved to Brussels to study at PARTS and graduated with her generation in 2000.

Her professional career has since led her to work as a dancer in multiple creations with diverse artists such as Arco Renz, Michèle Noiret, Dominique Duszynski, Fré Werbrouck, Marc Vanrunxt & Kunst/Werk. She has also worked with several choreographers either as an assistant or rehearsal director, notably with Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker/ Rosas.

As a choreographer and creator herself, she has performed internationally in her own productions including a solo, entitled bliss and the duets Sliding and Zones. She has also been commissioned by various theatre productions and professional dance schools. In parallel, Lise has worked on different occasions as choreographic or staging assistant for Opera productions created at La Monnaie /De Munt or staged at L’Opera de Paris, and Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

Since beginning her career, Lise has developed her teaching practices of contemporary dance and ballet with dancers, actors, singers, in various schools and creative processes both in professional and recreational contexts. She has worked in Belgium, Canada and abroad, teaching a broad range of ages and backgrounds. She is also currently a teacher and advisor for the Rosas program, Dancing Kids.

Since 2014, Lise has been working/contributing to P.A.R.T.S. as a tutor, teacher and is currently a member of the pedagogical team, sharing the role of Head of Dance and Movement Practices with her colleague Diane Madden.

Lise gratefully acknowledges what she has received from her own teachers and through her professional experiences. She continues to experiment and investigate dance with curiosity and multiple lenses through teaching, searching, performing and creating.
