Bára Sigfúsdóttir was born in 1984 in Reykjavík Iceland. As a child she trained Ballroom and Latin dance, as well as gymnastics.
Bára studied contemporary dance at the Icelandic Academy of Arts, in the Amsterdam school of the Arts and lastly at P.A.R.T.S., the school of Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker in Brussels where she focused both on dance training, movement research and choreography. Her most influential teachers are David Zambrano, Julyen Hamilton, Abigail Yager and Janet Panetta.
In her professional career Bára has participated in dance projects as well as more theatrical ones, films and commercials. In 2013 she is working with Iris Bouche and Kobe Proesmans for the project Wulong in Het Paleis, Antwerpen, Bénédikte Mottart and Company 3637 for the project Eldorado as well as touring her solo creation On the other side of a Sand dune which is supported by the Flemish Community Commission of the Brussels Capital Region and made with residency support from Danscentrumjette, RITS (EHB), StairCase.studio and Rosas. Bára has in the past worked with Or and Oran dance company, Miet Warlop (replacing in Springville), Quan Bui Ngoc and others.
